Optimus Technology Acquires SmartHop Freight Platform

Optimus Technology Inc. has acquired SmartHop’s load and fleet management platform and plans to offer the technology at no cost to small and midsize trucking carriers. SmartHop will be repackaged as a white-label digital dispatch tool that financial, insurance and logistics partners can integrate into their existing apps under their own branding. Carriers will be able to manage trucks, find and book loads, and handle other fleet operations without paying for another software platform.

The strategy also expands the data feeding Optimus’ Freight Intelligence Graph, a digital twin of the U.S. freight network designed to model freight movements and predict how disruptions or structural changes could affect supply chains. SmartHop gives Optimus greater visibility into transactions involving smaller fleets, providing data on where freight originates, where it travels and when it moves. Optimus says its focus is on freight movement patterns rather than individual load rates or the identities of parties involved in transactions.

Optimus plans to monetize its growing data network primarily through products for freight brokers and other industry participants. Its brokerage software analyzes a broker’s existing business and identifies potential shippers and sales opportunities, while its broader modeling capabilities can simulate events such as hurricanes and show how disruptions may ripple through transportation and distribution networks. The company sees potential applications for the technology across brokers, carriers, retailers, manufacturers and insurers.
