January 7, 2025 - Levinson Arshonsky Kurtz & Komsky, LLP is pleased to announce that effective January 1, 2025, Ori S. Blumenfeld and Paul G Murtagh have been elevated to partner.

About Ori Blumenfeld

Mr. Blumenfeld focuses his practice in all areas of complex bankruptcy and insolvency, corporate restructuring, distressed assets, acquisition and disposition, and related litigation matters. In terms of his corporate bankruptcy expertise, Mr. Blumenfeld has represented debtors, trustees, and both secured and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy courts. In addition, a substantial portion of his work consists of serving as general or special counsel to federal and state receivers appointed to general equity, Family Code, rents and profits, Health and Safety Code, and regulatory receiverships, as well as bankruptcy trustees, and other fiduciaries. He has significant civil litigation experience defending and prosecuting actions on behalf of receivers and businesses. He also provides legal counsel for partition referees, successor trustees, and provisional directors in matters involving property and business disputes. Mr. Blumenfeld is licensed to practice law in both California and Texas. Mr. Blumenfeld is also licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

In November of 2013, Mr. Blumenfeld confirmed the largest individual chapter 11 reorganization plan in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, Santa Ana Division. He has been selected to the Super Lawyers – Southern California Rising Stars list as a bankruptcy business practitioner for 2014-2018. From 2015-2017, Super Lawyers recognized him as a Top 100 Up and Coming Attorney in the Southern California Rising Stars. From 2021-2024 Mr. Blumenfeld has been selected to the Super Lawyers – Southern California list as a bankruptcy business practitioner. Since 2022, Mr. Blumenfeld has been included in the Lawdragons 500 Leading Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyers. Since 2023, Mr. Blumenfeld has also been recognized in Best Lawyers in America for Litigation – Bankruptcy.

About Paul Murtagh

Mr. Murtagh is a business litigator whose practice focuses on a wide range of complex commercial litigation matters including business litigation, unfair competition, government litigation, entertainment, insurance coverage disputes, defendant class actions, and other business contract and tort claims.

 Mr. Murtagh has successfully litigated a variety of matters, including representing an advertising directory in a suit for tortious interference with the client’s customer base, obtaining a $4.25 million jury verdict entered against the client’s leading competitor in Southern California and later obtaining an attorney fee award of over $1.2 million. Mr. Murtagh also obtained a defense judgment in a class action against a public agency providing health insurance to low-income individuals in Los Angeles County.  He represented a Fortune 500 company in a long-running third-party enforcement action filed by a county water district against current and former owners and operators of industrial sites that allegedly contributed to groundwater contamination for damages under the Carpenter–Presley–Tanner Hazardous Substance Account Act and the county water district act, among other claims.  He also defended “wage theft” actions brought by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, relating to the underpayment of workers in private businesses and public works projects.

Mr. Murtagh has been voted by his peers as one of Southern California’s Super Lawyers every year from 2007 through 2024. Prior to affiliating with the firm, Mr. Murtagh was a partner in a boutique litigation firm, working with and opposing some of the largest and most well-known firms in California.
