Interport Trade Capital Places $10MM Factoring Facility for EU Subsidiary of Asia-Based Metals Trader
Acting as advisor, Interport Trade Capital is pleased to announce the successful closing of a $10 million accounts receivable factoring facility for the newly incorporated European subsidiary of a well-established, Asia-based multi-commodity trading group focused on metals.
The client established its EU entity to better serve European customers who prefer to transact within the EU and VAT framework, as well as to more effectively navigate regional import quota regimes. While the parent company maintains strong banking relationships in Asia, the newly formed EU subsidiary—despite being part of a seasoned global trading group—lacked local operating history and an established credit profile, limiting access to competitive financing options.
Additionally, the European subsidiary’s plan to hold inventory locally to improve service levels created incremental working capital demands that would have placed strain on the parent company’s balance sheet if funded solely through existing home-market bank lines.
Interport advised the client on the most appropriate financing structure for its expansion objectives and originated a tailored receivables-based factoring solution aligned with the subsidiary’s European sales profile. Through a competitive lender selection process, Interport delivered multiple term sheets and ultimately placed the facility with a specialized trade finance provider best suited to support the client’s growth strategy.
“This transaction highlights Interport’s ability to solve complex cross-border financing challenges,” said John Stillwaggon, Founder & Managing Director of Interport Trade Capital. “We’re pleased to support a high-quality trading group as it expands its European footprint, and to deliver a solution that preserves liquidity at the parent level while empowering the EU subsidiary to scale efficiently.”
