Five Notable Litigators Join Spencer Fane in Houston
Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce a group of five attorneys joined the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice group in the firm’s Houston office. They include partners Joseph A. Garnett, Raymond A. Neuer, and R. Edward Perkins, and of counsel attorneys Jamie Guidry and James L. Ware.
The five attorneys bring the Houston office extensive experience in several diverse forms of litigation, including business and commercial disputes, class action lawsuits, product liability and toxic torts, premises liability, and numerous other traditional and trailblazing litigation efforts. Boasting established legal acuity fueled by decades of experience, Raymond and James are frequently sought after to represent large, nationally recognized companies as national, regional, and coordinating counsel, while Edward specializes in high-risk claims and complex disputes. Joseph A. Garnett – Partner, Litigation and Dispute Resolution
Joseph represents clients in litigatory matters across diverse industries, applying wide-ranging experience and several types of dispute resolution to his cases. He initially develops solutions based on alternative resolution methods and, when necessary, is an exceptional pre-trial, trial, and appellate advocate with an established reputation for success in the courtroom. Within his broad practice areas, he defends clients in everything from business fraud, commercial litigation, and professional liability to products liability, personal injury suits, premises liability, and property damage. Joseph completed his undergraduate degree cum laude from Texas A&M University and earned his Juris Doctor at the South Texas College of Law.
Jamie Guidry – Of Counsel, Litigation and Dispute Resolution
Jamie represents clients in several types of litigation, including products liability, premises liability, personal injury defense, and labor and employment matters, carefully assessing risks to achieve optimal outcomes aligned with business goals and objectives. With a service-oriented approach to her practice, she protects clients’ public images and financial assets while prioritizing their best interests throughout the litigatory process. Jamie takes a comprehensive approach to dispute resolution, using her background in business administration to identify and implement necessary organizational changes to limit current and future liability. She completed her undergraduate degree cum laude at Harding University and earned her Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctor cum laude at Texas Tech University.
Raymond A. Neuer – Partner, Litigation and Dispute Resolution
Raymond is a practiced courtroom advocate who defends clients across a broad spectrum of litigatory matters, implementing strategies that effectively resolve disputes while preserving clients’ financial and reputational interests. Over three decades in private practice, he has represented clients in matters ranging from commercial litigation and personal injury to toxic tort and products liability. Specifically, Raymond boasts extensive experience representing manufacturers, distributors, premises owners and contractors, third-party switching companies, and track maintenance companies in a variety of claims, including catastrophic injury and death, claims made under the Federal Employer’s Liability Act (FELA), and several types of commercial matters. He completed his undergraduate degree at the New College of the University of South Florida and earned his Juris Doctor cum laude at the University of Houston Law Center.
Edward Perkins – Partner, Litigation and Dispute Resolution
Edward is a skillful litigator with extensive experience defending clients in complex commercial disputes, employment discrimination cases, professional malpractice claims, and personal injury claims, limiting reputational and financial liability with innovative strategies backed by decades of litigatory insight. He also represents law firms and other employers in high-risk professional malpractice and discrimination matters and has assisted property owners and homeowners in several types of property-related litigation. Edward has tried cases in federal district courts, federal bankruptcy courts, and Texas state courts, where he consistently obtains favorable outcomes for his clients. He completed his undergraduate degree at Missouri State University and earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Houston Law Center.
James L. Ware – Of Counsel, Litigation and Dispute Resolution
James represents clients in a variety of personal injury claims, mass tort actions, environmental matters, product liability suits, FELA claims, maritime disputes, and other commercial litigation, navigating particularly complex trial work with an acute attention to detail and a comprehensive awareness of all potential risks. After beginning his legal career in general civil practice, he found his niche in courtroom litigation, handling a wide variety of matters in state, federal, and administrative courts for over four decades. Additionally, he was appointed to serve on the U.S. Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel in Galveston, Texas, in 2017. James completed his undergraduate degree cum laude at the University of Texas at Austin and earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Texas School of Law.
